Original oil painting of blush pink peony. This is one in a series of three peony flower paintings from the "Branches Collection" designed and painted by artist Carla Thomson.
The pieces are painted on a cradled panel board with oil paints mixed with cold wax. The cold wax medium is made from natural beeswax and makes the oil colors thicker for a more textured surface with a matte finish.
Peonies are one of my favorite subjects to paint. These are three flowers from a tree peony captured as they were starting to wilt but no less beautiful. Hang one, two or the set of three to make a statement. The neutral tone and square format will enhance any space and decor whether you prefer modern farmhouse, shabby chic or rustic.
Peony Symbolism: "The traditional floral symbol of China, the state flower of Indiana, and the 12th wedding anniversary flower, peonies are known as the flower of riches and honor. With their lush, full, rounded bloom, peonies embody romance and prosperity and are regarded as an omen of good fortune and a happy marriage." Teleflora
